Abd al-Rahman bin al-Kamal Abu Bakr bin Muhammad Sabiq al-Din Khan al-Khudairi al-Asyuti, known as Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti, is one of the greatest Muslim scholars.
Al-Suyuti was born on Sunday evening, the first of Rajab in the year 849 AH, in Cairo.
His father left Assiut to study science, and his name was Abdul Rahman bin Abi Bakr bin Muhammad Al-Khudairi Al-Assiuti.
He was the descendant of a family famous for knowledge and religiosity.
Al-Suyuti’s father and his son died when he was six years old, so the child grew up as an orphan.
He turned to memorizing the Qur’an, and completed it when he was under eight years old.
Then he memorized some books at that early age, such as Al-Umdah, Minhaj Al-Fiqh wal-Usul, and Alfiyyah Ibn Malik, so his perceptions expanded and his knowledge increased.Al-Suyuti was the subject of care and care from a number of scholars who were his father’s companions, and some of them assumed guardianship over him, including Al-Kamal ibn Al-Hammam Al-Hanafi, one of the great jurists of his time, and the young man was greatly influenced by him, especially in his distance from the sultans and the heads of the state.
He made many scientific trips that included the Hijaz, the Levant, Yemen, India, and the Islamic Maghreb.
